Global engineering services company AtkinsRéalis has completed its acquisition of TOBIN, a Galway-headquartered Irish engineering and project management consultancy, bringing its total Irish workforce to over 700 employees, as reported by Irish Building Magazine.

The acquisition, completed following the necessary regulatory approvals, expands AtkinsRéalis's regional footprint and broadens the technical expertise available to support Ireland's national infrastructure development programme across transport, water, energy, and the built environment.

AtkinsRéalis has operated in Ireland for over 25 years, with its Irish headquarters in Dublin and offices in Cork, Galway, and Dundalk. The company has played a central role in major national infrastructure programmes, including work on Iarnród Éireann's DART+ rail schemes, EirGrid's electricity transmission investment programme, the Water Supply Project for Uisce Éireann, and ongoing upgrades at Dublin Airport.

TOBIN has an established track record across both the public and private sectors, with notable project credits including its role on the Water Supply Project for the Eastern and Midlands Region and environmental consultancy for the Codling Wind Park transmission infrastructure.

Martina Finn, market director for Ireland at AtkinsRéalis, said: "Completing the acquisition of TOBIN marks an important step in strengthening our presence across Ireland. Together, we are increasing our capacity to deliver locally, expanding our regional footprint and bringing a broader range of technical expertise to support Ireland's infrastructure ambitions and long-term sustainable growth."

Ciaran McGovern, managing director of TOBIN, said: "This is a significant milestone for our business and our people. Becoming part of AtkinsRéalis gives us greater scale and access to global expertise, while staying true to the values and client focus that have underpinned our success in Ireland. We are excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to grow together and deliver for clients in the future."

The combined entity positions AtkinsRéalis as one of the larger engineering consultancy presences in Ireland at a time when the country's infrastructure pipeline, spanning housing, transport, water, and energy transition, is placing sustained demand on technical delivery capacity across both the public and private sectors.
