Validated for its innovative and impactful design work last year, BDP was named winner in three categories at the Building & Architect of the Year Awards 2025, highlighting the firm’s commitment to adaptive reuse, sustainability, and community-focused architecture.

The Drogheda Civic Offices refurbishment was awarded Building Refurbishment for a Single Building or Development, with judges recognising the project for its masterful approach to urban revitalisation. By seamlessly balancing historic preservation with contemporary design, the redevelopment enhanced both the interiors and the streetscape, creating an inclusive and socially aware civic hub.

BDP also claimed the Sustainability Award for a Single Building or Development for the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Coonagh Campus. The judges praised the project’s innovative reuse of existing structures, delivering substantial embodied carbon savings while serving as a learning platform for students and demonstrating lifecycle-focused sustainable design.

Completing the hat-trick, the TUS Coonagh Campus was named Building of the Year – Educational, with the panel commending BDP’s thoughtful adaptive reuse strategy. The project transformed the facility into a vibrant, community-centric educational space, integrating bold design, careful material selection, and high environmental performance to deliver multi-level impact.

BDP’s triple recognition reflects the evolving standards of the Building & Architect of the Year Awards, where excellence is defined by sustainability and meaningful social and environmental outcomes.

Carrying the trails pof 2025 champions, attention now turns to 2026: which projects will build on these precedents and further redefine how space structures are designed, adapted, and revitalised?

Finalists for the 2026 awards will be announced on 19 February, with winners celebrated at the Awards Gala on 23 April, bringing together Ireland’s leading architects, engineers, designers, and built environment professionals.
