Britt Berentzen has been appointed Judging Coordinator for the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2026, bringing a rare combination of professional practice, academic leadership, and sector-wide experience to one of Ireland's most prestigious architectural programmes.
Berentzen serves as Programme Director for the Architecture and Design programmes within the Design Faculty at Griffith College Dublin, where she has played a central role in curriculum development across multiple design disciplines.
Alongside her directorial responsibilities, she delivers Interior Studio modules as a lecturer, maintaining a direct connection to live design education. Her work also extends to architectural projects affiliated with the college, bridging academic thinking with practical built environment outcomes.
Her professional credentials reflect the depth she brings to the judging process. Berentzen holds a BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture, an MBA in Project Management, and qualifications in Applied Building Repair and Conservation. She is an active member of both the Interiors Association and the Institute of Designers Ireland, and has accumulated over 17 years of industry experience alongside more than a decade in higher education.
Having previously adjudicated at the Fit Out Awards and the Building and Architect of the Year Awards, Berentzen approaches her coordinating role with a thorough understanding of what distinguishes outstanding entries from technically competent ones, a perspective informed equally by design theory, project delivery, and conservation practice.
The Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2026 ceremony takes place on Thursday, 23rd April 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry.
