Entries are now open for the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2027, giving Ireland’s architects, practices and building professionals the chance to put their best work forward for national recognition. The programme celebrates the most innovative individuals and companies driving excellence in Irish building and architecture.

The timeline is clear and the window is generous. Entries opened on 9th October 2026 and close on 22nd December 2026. Finalists will be announced on 4th February 2027, and the awards gala will take place on 8th April 2027. For practices planning their submissions, those dates offer a defined runway to select projects, gather supporting material and present each entry with the clarity the judges expect.

The 2026 cycle showed what that preparation can achieve. The awards recognised work across housing, conservation, sustainability, education, healthcare and public buildings, with winners honoured at the gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, on 23rd April 2026. Projects such as Ireland’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka and Ireland’s First Net Zero Energy Supermarket set a high benchmark for the next set of entrants.

The gala on 8th April 2027 will bring the sector together once again, uniting architects, developers, contractors and built environment professionals for an evening that celebrates achievement and strengthens the networks on which future projects depend. Practices that enter now will be part of that conversation from the shortlist announcement in February onwards.

Entering is also a strategic decision. Recognition from an established programme strengthens a practice’s profile with clients, partners and peers, and the process of preparing an entry often sharpens how a team articulates its design thinking, delivery approach and social or environmental impact.
