Irish homebuilder Cairn has appointed Sean Gavin as director of commercial and procurement, strengthening its senior leadership as the company continues to scale its national residential delivery programme, as reported by Irish Building Magazine.
Gavin will lead Cairn's commercial and procurement functions, taking responsibility for strategy across cost management, cost planning, and supply chain development. His remit includes an increased focus on pre-construction activity and supporting innovation across the business.
He brings 30 years of experience from leading residential developer organisations in the UK. Most recently, he served as managing director (South) at London Square, with full responsibility for delivery, investment, and commercial performance across that region.
Prior to London Square, Gavin spent over a decade at Berkeley Group in senior leadership roles, overseeing the full delivery of major residential projects including some of London's most complex schemes. He also held the position of UK construction director at Ballymore.
Gavin Whelan, chief operating officer at Cairn, said: "We are delighted to welcome Sean to Cairn at an important point in our growth. As we continue to scale our operational functions, strong commercial leadership and preparedness is critical to how we manage cost and risk, drive consistency and deliver at pace. Sean brings a huge amount of experience across delivery, commercial performance and leadership. He has a strong track record of building high performing teams and leading residential businesses, and I am confident he will make a significant contribution to Cairn as we continue to grow."
Sean Gavin said: "I am very pleased to be joining Cairn at such an exciting stage in its development. The company has a clear ambition and a strong track record of delivery. I look forward to working with the leadership team to further strengthen the commercial and procurement functions, work closely with our supply chain partners and support the continued growth of the business."
Gavin will work closely with Cairn's senior leadership team to further develop the company's commercial capability and support delivery of its long-term strategy.
