Ciaran McConnell, Managing Director of JP Corry, has been awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) in recognition of his longstanding support for the local architectural community. Starting as a sales assistant at JP Corry at age 20, McConnell rose to Managing Director within 14 years, demonstrating both leadership and commitment to industry development.

Under his guidance, JP Corry has strengthened its partnership with RSUA, supporting initiatives such as the Practices Services Scheme and the RSUA Design Awards. McConnell has championed opportunities for architects to gain international experience through study trips to Sweden, Santiago de Compostela, and Ireland’s only gypsum mine in Cavan.

He has also been instrumental in the creation of Architecture Night, a high-profile event designed to make ambitious ideas a reality, and has consistently supported Early Career Architects through annual design competitions, helping nurture emerging talent and innovative projects.

RSUA President John Lavery and Ciarán Fox highlighted McConnell’s role as more than a supporter—he is a collaborator, enabler, and advocate for architecture in Northern Ireland, acting with courtesy, trust, and integrity.

The recognition underscores the impact of sustained industry engagement and leadership in fostering innovation, education, and professional growth within the architectural sector.
