Ireland’s Designer Group has officially opened a new €10 million modular manufacturing facility in Kells, Co. Meath, boosting its capacity to deliver high-quality off-site solutions across mechanical and electrical engineering sectors.
The 4,000sqm purpose-built workshop strengthens Designer Group’s Modular Manufacturing capabilities, supporting operations in Data Centre, Energy, and pharmaceutical projects. Components fabricated at the Meath site will be deployed to client locations across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. The expansion is expected to generate up to 75 roles over the next five years, spanning engineering, fabrication, logistics, management, and apprenticeship positions.
Designer Group, an Irish-owned company employing 1,250 people across 10 countries, has a long-standing reputation for excellence in mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering services. Its modular and off-site solutions have already contributed to complex projects, and the new facility enables the company to scale production, enhance efficiency, and deliver greater value to clients.
Paul Nicholls, Group Managing Director at Designer Group, said, “As our industry continues to evolve, we are seeing a fundamental shift in how complex projects are executed – with speed, certainty, and sustainability at the forefront. Our new facility enables us to deliver high-quality, prefabricated modules off-site, driving greater efficiency, cost certainty, and reduced risk for our clients, while ensuring excellence in delivery across all sectors.”
Beyond operational benefits, the investment also reinforces Designer Group’s local presence, providing long-term employment opportunities in Co. Meath. The facility is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating project delivery, improving cost management, and supporting sustainable engineering solutions in modular construction.
