John Paul Construction, headquartered in Dublin, reported pre-tax profits of €23.14 million for 2024, up 37% from €16.9 million in 2023, as revenues increased by 12.5% from €568.15 million to €639.73 million.
The surge was underpinned by the completion of over 800 apartments in the greater Dublin area, alongside life sciences and data centre projects in Ireland. Geographical diversification was also evident with the completion of a confidential advanced technology project in Oxford, UK, and the commencement of hyper-scale data centre projects in Wales and Germany.
Operating profits rose 30% from €15.45 million to €20.07 million, supplemented by €3.07 million in interest payments, contributing to the overall pre-tax figure. After a corporation tax charge of €3.79 million, the company recorded a post-tax profit of €19.35 million. Non-cash depreciation costs of €2.4 million were also accounted for.
The company’s 75th anniversary last year coincided with its relocation to a new state-of-the-art headquarters in the Termini Building, Sandyford. Staff numbers rose from 484 to 508, including 419 contract employees, 82 administrative staff, and seven directors. Director pay increased by 20% from €4.04 million to €4.84 million, while total staff costs grew from €49.7 million to €55.7 million.
Notable projects in recent years include phase three of Kildare Village Retail Outlet, Miesian Plaza in Dublin 2, and the redevelopment of the five-star Adare Castle Hotel, reflecting the company’s broad sectoral expertise.
