P McVey Building Systems, a modular construction specialist based in Toome, Northern Ireland, has launched Cabin Hub, a stock-led business supplying ready-to-use site accommodation and storage across Britain and Ireland, a move that matters to building and architecture professionals because it offers a faster route to temporary space where a bespoke modular building is not suited.

P McVey Building Systems is a family-run modular specialist now marking its 40th anniversary, having grown from its roots in Co Antrim into a business with more than £20 million in revenue and more than 2,500 projects completed across the UK and Ireland.

Cabin Hub will hold a live inventory of new and used cabins and containers for sale or hire, with units held ready for dispatch rather than manufactured to order, and will supply site offices, welfare facilities, anti-vandal units and secure storage.

Mike McVey, director of P McVey Building Systems, said: “Not every requirement calls for a bespoke building or a long construction programme.”

The new business serves construction and infrastructure, education, healthcare, manufacturing, events and local businesses, and sits alongside the group’s core delivery of larger bespoke modular buildings.

The structural driver is demand for quickly available temporary space on live sites, and the group has built a hire fleet that, as reported by Insider Media, passed 500 buildings after its acquisition of Donnelly Cabins in 2021.

For the sector, the timing matters because the firm has since invested £5 million in a Toome headquarters with a 32,000 sq ft factory, giving the new stock-led offer manufacturing capacity to draw on.

A separate £1.4 million expansion into Britain, supported by Invest NI and creating 12 jobs, shows the firm widening its reach before this launch.

The broader implication for the sector is that modular suppliers are adding off-the-shelf hire products beside bespoke builds, giving contractors and project teams a quick option for site offices, welfare and storage.
