General contractor Miron Construction of Neenah, Wisconsin, USA, has pulled a building permit for a 75,962 sq ft convention centre at the Ho-Chunk casino, hotel, and convention complex in Beloit, Wisconsin, marking the start of construction on the final major component of the $705m (€649m) project.
Beloit Daily News reported that the permit, filed on 2 March, estimates the convention centre's construction cost at $35.57m (€32.7m), with the facility scheduled to open in 2027 alongside the project's 18-storey, 312-room hotel.
Since breaking ground on the overall development in October 2024, Miron has filed eight permits across various elements of the project, with cumulative estimated construction costs reaching $345.4m (€318m) and permit fees of $35,765 (€32,900) paid to the city.
The total project cost, including fixtures, furniture, and amenities, is expected to reach $705m (€649m), with the development also incorporating a 1,500-space parking garage and $4.4m (€4m) in dedicated maintenance and groundskeeping buildings.
The casino component of the complex remains on track to open in September 2026, ahead of the hotel and convention centre's 2027 completion.
At nearly 76,000 sq ft, the Beloit convention centre will be the largest such facility in the region between Madison and Milwaukee in Wisconsin, and larger than the convention space at the Woodman's Sports and Convention Centre in Janesville. It will have capacity for up to 2,000 attendees, double that of the now-closed Eclipse Events Centre which previously served the Beloit market.
The project is being developed by the Ho-Chunk Nation and will be the second largest casino in Wisconsin, after the Ho-Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells.
