UK offsite and modular construction specialist Reds10 Group has completed a strategic investment in ESL, a Hull-based steel fabrication business, bringing critical steel manufacturing capability in-house and expanding its vertically integrated industrialised construction model.
Building reported that the acquisition, made for an undisclosed sum, adds ESL's nearly 50-person workforce and £7m turnover business to a Reds10 Group that now comprises ten companies, following a wider restructure completed in April 2026.
ESL was founded in 2010 by father-and-son Paul and Gareth Thompson and provides steel fabrication services across the UK, including manufacturing, installation, repair, and maintenance, with clients spanning the public sector in defence, education, justice, and healthcare. Its purpose-built Hull facility sits approximately 20 miles from Reds10's offsite manufacturing campus in Driffield, East Yorkshire, which comprises five factories totalling 300,000 sq ft with capacity to produce up to 4,000 building units per year.
The acquisition strengthens Reds10's ability to control steel supply within its manufacturing process, reducing reliance on external suppliers and improving delivery certainty across its public sector project pipeline.
ESL will continue to operate under its existing leadership as part of the restructured Reds10 Group. Ryan Geldard was appointed CEO of Reds10 as part of the April restructure, with founder Paul Ruddick assuming the role of group CEO overseeing all ten businesses.
Reds10 reported revenue of £144.7m and an operating margin of 4.8% for the year to March 2025, and has set a target of growing revenue to £500m through expansion into healthcare, affordable housing, and temporary accommodation, sectors the firm has identified as aligned with its industrialised offsite delivery model.
